![]() ![]() The sound is clear, rich, and full, and at movie theater volume (much to the agitation of my gf and dog), it sounds like I'm at the theater. How does all of this sound? Amazing! I don't have the system all broken in yet, but I scrapped the Sony auto calibration thing and used a sound level meter on a tripod to calibrate it. I actually laughed when I saw the box on my door, looked like someone delivered a mini fridge or something. For subs I have my old home theater in a box Sony subwoofer (which is surprisingly good), and I coughed up 290.00 for a PL-200 and its worth every penny. ![]() I may still get two additional LCRs for a 7.2 setup. I have a FH6-LCR for my center, and two FH-65B for my rear surrounds. I originally debated doing all FH6-LCRs, for front center and surrounds, but ended up with a pair of FH-6T towers and loved them so much that I used them as my fronts. I ended up with a 5.2 setup, using BIC FH line of speakers and my Sony STR DH-740 receiver. Not a lot of info on these speakers so that's why I'm posting. They also had two open box klipsch 12" subs for 360.00 each, down from 499.00 Any thoughts? They did sound phenomenal, but for that price i'd still need a sub and center to with it. The magnolia best buy sales guy was trying to sell me two pairs of "open box" Bowers and Wilkins bookshelves at 450.00 a pair. this seems to be the rabbit hole of home theater? I am a sucker though for a good value, and if i can find something that is similar to the super fancy at a fraction of the price, then i'm all about it. They both have the horn tweeter and are massive, and from what i've seen they are compared to the klipsch as far as sound (obviously with klipsch being better).Īs you can see the trend is more and more, more $$, more sound. ![]() After listening to the klipsch RF-28ii at best buy (for 475.00 a piece), and there center channel, I'm wondering if the BIC's will sound similar. That being said I'm now starting to get excited about the BIC PL series with the towers, center, and 3-way surrounds PL-66 (i think). The reviews are great and it would cost the same as the pioneer set up. Thanks for all of the replies! I was thinking about may being just doing a full BIC DV-62 and DV-64 tower + the 62clrs center set up with two BIC F12's. I'm open to suggestions other then this, and yes I know B&W, mirage, etc etc are going to sound better, but I don't have that kind of expendable dough at the moment.Īny suggestions would be awesome! Thanks! I've never heard of BIC until recently but I know they have a following and good reviews too. Then I could have two matching subs, and later on add another pair of bookshelves for the 7.2įrom what I can tell the pioneer system though cheap, is supposed to be awesome for the price point. I know that its ideal to have same brand/same line of speakers, but is it essential?Ģ) Fork out 550.00 for the complete pioneer andrew jones system with the towers, bookshelves, center, and subwoofer. Plus with this I could afford to get another pair of SS-B1000 to make a 7.2 system. This would be a piecemeal system, but affordable and a hell of a lot better then what i have. Then I could maybe get a BIC F12 or PL-200 to join the andrew jones sub I have. So what i'm looking at is between two basic options.ġ) Buy a pair of Sony SS-B3000 (139.00) for the fronts and a BIC DV-62CLRS (106.00) for the center, and using the SS-B1000's for my rears. What I currently have is the old sony surround speakers and subwoofer (all pretty crappy), and I just got a pioneer andrew jones 8" subwoofer from CL for $60.00 I also have a pair of new sony SS-B1000 bookshelves that were more of an impulse buy. I know this is an entry level receiver, but i'm ok with that. After getting the receiver I got the itch to upgrade. This old one was part of a "walmart special" 5.1 home theater in a box set up that was a great high school graduation present. So i recently got a new 7.2 receiver (Sony STR-DH740 7.2 4K receiver) from amazon to replace my 10yr sony receiver that bit the dust. ![]()
